This exceptional 5‑piece tea set in delicate, translucent Japanese eggshell porcelain consists of a teapot, milk jug, sugar pot and two small cups, all hand‑painted with refined floral motifs.

Both front and back are richly decorated: enchanting purple peonies on the front and garlands of colourful wildflowers on the reverse. The rounded teapot and sugar pot feature lids topped with three back‑to‑back cast S‑shaped ornaments that echo the floral variations. The two small cups are subtly draped with white moriage, each with its own colour palette.

The eggshell cups are so thin they appear almost translucent — a hallmark of Japanese eggshell porcelain. All pieces bear the clear signature mark of Tashiro Shoten, a Yokohama porcelain shop active until 1954, known for highly decorated wares often painted by Kutani‑trained artists.

The set is in perfect condition, colour‑stable, with only minor wear to the gilded motifs.
