Antieke Koffiekan Hotel Kronenburg Münster “Fritz Bensinger Mannheim” ca. 1920

Deze statische witte koffiekan van dik hotelporselein uit ca. 1920 is een bijzonder historisch souvenir van het beruchte Hotel Skandalhaus Kronenburg, gelegen aan de Hammerstraße 35–37 te Münster. Het gebouw, “Bauhaus‑achtig” van stijl, kende een opmerkelijk en gevarieerd verleden: eerst hotel, later bar, vervolgens linkse commune en uiteindelijk een van de bekendste pubs van Münster.

De koffiekan is vooraan versierd met banieren met het opschrift Kronenburg Münster i/ Westfalen, centraal het wapenschild van Münster met bovenaan een burcht in de vorm van een kroon. Rondom loopt een bordeauxrode band met daarboven een subtiele purperen sierstreep, typisch voor hotelporselein uit deze periode.

Onderaan bevindt zich de stempel Fritz Bensinger Mannheim 05, een firma gespecialiseerd in hotelporselein sinds 1889. Het stuk verkeert in goede leeftijdsgeschikte staat: het witte oppervlak vertoont slechts minuscule ouderdomssporen, terwijl glazuur en sierstrepen volledig intact zijn.

This sturdy white hotel‑porcelain coffee pot from around 1920 is a remarkable historical souvenir from the infamous Hotel Skandalhaus Kronenburg, located at Hammerstraße 35–37 in Münster. The building, “Bauhaus‑like” in style, has a colourful past: first a hotel, later a bar, then a left‑wing commune, and eventually one of Münster’s most iconic pubs.

The front is decorated with banners reading Kronenburg Münster i/ Westfalen, centred by the Münster coat of arms topped with a crown‑shaped fortress. A burgundy band encircles the pot, complemented by a thin purple decorative stripe, typical of early 20th‑century hotel porcelain.

The underside bears the stamp Fritz Bensinger Mannheim 05, a manufacturer specialising in hotel porcelain since 1889. The piece remains in good age‑appropriate condition: the white surface shows only minimal wear, and both glaze and striping are fully intact.
