Antieke Nederlandse keramische tureen met deksel en sierlijke handgrepen, uitgevoerd in een prachtig koningsblauw bloemendecor. Het decor is toe te schrijven aan Petrus Regout Maastricht, Decor Dresden. Zowel het hoofdlichaam als het deksel zijn rijk versierd met het klassieke bloemenpatroon, en de handgrepen geven het geheel een stijlvolle uitstraling.

De bodem is gestempeld en bevestigt de herkomst. De terrine vertoont een kleine breuklijn boven de rand van de kom en een zichtbare herstelling op het deksel. Binnenin zijn lichte ouderdomsverkleuringen aanwezig, passend bij de leeftijd van het stuk.

Petrus Regout richtte in 1834 de Sfinxfabriek in Maastricht op, die uitgroeide tot een van de belangrijkste aardewerkproducenten van Nederland. Het bedrijf evolueerde van eenvoudige faience naar hoogwaardig keramiek en bleef tot ver in de 20e eeuw een toonaangevende naam in Europees aardewerk.
